Weighing in on Type 2 Diabetes & Gastric Bypass Surgery

Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic health problem that involves elevated blood sugar levels; if glucose levels become too elevated then they become toxic to the brain and other body organs.   Often diabetics can struggle with weight gain and find it very difficult to lose weight and obtain healthy glucose levels.

Recent advertising states type 2 Diabetes can be beaten with metabolic surgery/gastric bypass.    Gastric bypass needs to be the absolute last resort this is not a quick and easy fix to the problem, this causes many more health issues later and it interferes with digestion and absorption of key nutrients.

People with type 2 Diabetes must take their disease very seriously, we find that a personalized nutrition plan that addresses underlying issues, diet, exercise, and proper supplementation can reverse this disease state and will reduce or eliminate the need for medication.  Below is a type 2 Diabetic that was considering gastric bypass and felt that it was her only option

“Since starting on my personalized lifestyle plan my blood sugar levels are between 60 and 90.  I am sooo happy and I have lost 30 pounds.  My most recent A1C is down to 6.7 from 9.3 in November.  My cholesterol is 143, HDL 57 and LDL 69, my A1C has never been this low.  I have more energy than I have had in years.  I cannot thank you enough; it is hard to imagine that I was even thinking of having such an invasive surgery that is just unbelievable.  I know that I have a long way to go, but I know that with your help and my determination there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Thank you, thank you, and thank you”

So before making your decision you need to at least make sure you have tried everything else first, when you use a functional medicine approach and follow a personalized plan that can make all the difference
